He can’t let her sit in that camp another day. It’s been three months, almost four. He has tried his contacts in C-Sec, tried to find her a place to sleep with a good, credible family.
She reminds him of his sister… his sister who he hasn’t heard from since Palaven was attacked. He can’t let her sit there all alone. The plan forms around the time he gets a new captain, just after the attack on the Citadel. The guy is scum but they’re short handed. As much as he hates the captain, this was his chance to get her somewhere safe. He can’t do anything for the rest of the camp. But he can help her.
"Boss, so there’s this girl—"
"Lemme guess; that little blond cutey I see you checking up on?"
"The same. Was wondering if I could… take her back to my apartment. You know, show her around."
The captain slaps him on the back in approval and his skin crawls. She’s not even old enough for that by human standards. But he’s got the clearance to get her out of there and into the main Citadel. She immediately occupies his guest room, so glad to have a real bed. The possibility he could have ill intentions hasn’t even crossed her mind and he’s thankful he found her before someone could take advantage.
She cooks for him. It tastes terrible, but since she can’t eat the same things he can… he eats it anyway. It improves though when she starts finding recipes for dextro food.
He gets her new cloths. She finds the job at Kassa Fabrication on her own.
When he finds out about his sister, she holds his hand and comforts him the best she can. His sister was the only thing he had. Turians cope with lose by throwing themselves at tasks. He launches a program to help the refugees. A lot of people died in the attack on the Citadel, but it also left a lot of vacant space.
When she finds out about her parents, he’s surprised when she asks to stay his roommate. After waiting for them for so long, he thought she’d run right back to them. But she smiles and bounces, and insists they’ll be fine without her under their feet. Her mom is actually expecting a baby. The doctor said it’s a boy. They invite him to the baby shower.
After all, they are family now.
